CADDO NATION WILDLAND FIREFIGHTERS

Mission

Established 1996

Team of professionally  trained wildland firefighters skilled in coping with a sudden and unexpected emergency caused by fire, or extreme fire potential, storm or any other all-hazard emergency that threatens damage to property until brought under immediate control.  Also skilled in wildfire suppression, hurricane relief efforts, prescribed burning, trail construction/maintenance, road clearance and timber stand improvement.

Caddo Nation Wildland Firefighters Program

Crew Size: 10 Man Squad: 1 Crew Boss, 2 Squad Bosses and 7 Firefighters
20 Man Squad: 1 Crew Boss, 3 Squad Bosses and 16 Firefighters


Equipment:  Each Engine comes with one Engine Boss and one operator
1 Type 6 Fire Engine, 200 GAL, Water, Chemical & Foam Capability, 50 GPM
1 Type 6 Fire Engine, 250 GAL, Water, Chemical & Form Capability, 50 GPM, 4×4


Education/Training : 40 hours of Wildland Firefighter Class that includes 32 hours of Class room time and 8 hours of field work plus a physical fitness pack test.   Class is delivered by the US Forest Department under a Master Participating Agreement with the Caddo Nation.


Other Services: Crews are skilled in hoselays, fitting identification and use, portable pump setup, use of foam, hosepack construction and deployment and engine operations.  Engines also carry equipment for medical situations and the crews are trained to provide aid to victims until more qualified responders can get there.

U.S. Forest Service, Cibola National Forest, New Mexico Osceola National Forest. Florida Dept of Forestry, Texas Dept. of Forestry, U.S. Forest Service Region 8, Ouachita National Forest, National Grasslands of Texas, Kisatchie National Forest, BIA, Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Isabella.
