The Mission of the Caddo Nation Emergency Management Services Program is to take care of communities in the event of a natural disaster or other emergency.
The Caddo Nation Emergency Management Program is among the best in the Nation. Our Director and Deputy Director have over 45 years combined experience in Emergency Response. Our EMS is part of a larger network of both Tribal and non-tribal Emergency Management teams that spread out across the Nation. This tight knit community of Emergency Response units are activated in the event of a disaster and deploy across Oklahoma and the US to assist when help is needed. In addition to our Emergency Response Equipment and Mobile Unit, we are conducting trainings to build a team of local community people to be trained and deployed to assist communities when disaster strikes.
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may occur where they live. CERT trains volunteers in basic disaster response skills, such as: Fire safety. Light search and rescue. Team organization.
CERT training covers basic skills that are important to know in a disaster when emergency services are not available. With training and practice, and by working as a team, you will be able to protect yourself and maximize your capability to help for the greatest number of people after a disaster.
The Caddo Nation Emergency Management Services is providing training to community members to become CERT certified in the Spring of 2023. This team will be a force of volunteers that can be mobilized in the event of an emergency event.
